Saved To Save is founded with the pay it forward mission. We believe that we cannot pay back to all who have invested in us: a beloved family, guardians, teachers, friends, mentors, society, school community, spiritual and higher educational institutions, and/or anyone who has invested in us with love, care, and support in many ways throughout our lifetime.

The key point is that “Can I?” make a difference with a pay it forward mission to the beloved underserved community and human capital with love and dignity. No matter how large the bucket is, every single itty-bitty drop adds up. I can, and we together can make a difference with a pay it forward mission serving the loved one, the underserved community: women, girls, and children, and young people with passion, love, and dignity with no discrimination; we are all one “leave no one behind.”.

There is a true point for everything; we can choose to create a better world, stand for humanity and human rights, be a peace messenger, and we can make a positive difference. We can put our finger print forward; we can pay it forward and make a positive difference; life is too short on earth.

Youth Reproductive Health Service without medical supplies is imaginary

One of the only two youth centers that have nurses is the only professional to deliver their service out of the 10 youth centers in Arada Sub-city. Wereda 6 Youth Center is located around Sedete Kilo, nearby Addis Ababa University, Yared Music School.

The youth center gives the service to the youth from the community as well as some from the university. Even though the youth service has a nurse to deliver the service, there has been a gap in terms of regular medical supplies for more than 2 years.

Asaminew Abebe is a 36-year-old nurse based at the Wenda 6 youth center with more than 9 years of service experience at the youth center. He said that “being at a youth service center without having medical supplies, kits, and essential reproductive health service supplies is a waste of time, even if you cannot deliver any basic first aid service to the youth, or you cannot give condoms or emergency pills to the neediest.”.

Right now, I am glad that the youth center has received the medical supplies to strengthen family planning, like condoms and emergency pills, medical supplies, and sanitary materials. It has been so long since the youth had the material to deliver the service. Besides, the youth center has not had the budget to allocate to buy the supplies.

The wereda 6 youth center is lucky to have such a project. Thanks to Saved To Save and Plan International Ethiopia, the SRHR service is available to the youth or anyone interested to have it.

Currently, the service is available with essental supplies at hand to avail the service.

Therefore, Wereda 6 youth center has ready deliver the youth center repoductive health, emergency first aid, or psychological counseling service with the available medical supplies. Besides, the service is being promoted at the youth center clubs, at gums, and other youth services within and to the community level.

Moreover, it has been a while since the youth center and the Janmeda health center have stopped the intergration due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other unknown reasons. After the project started, the health center had the communication, as well as visits from the health center, reactivated.

This project has been eye-opening to the Arada Sub-city offices, the health centers, and 6 youth centers in many ways. Almost all the 10 youth centers are not functioning due to a lack of human resources or supplies. So, having such a project in all youth centers can contribute to promoting productive health awareness as well as ensuring access to the service.
